Cathay is extremely close to my house and the perfect place to pick up a quick Chinese when cooking seems too much hassle.
As other reviews have said, there's nothing to rave about but nothing that's caused me to want to review them badly.

The cooks and front of house staff are always cheerful and extremely polite and in the case of delivery, it has always been within 20 minutes.

The price is average for a take-away, perfect for students. Even better is that dishes can be ordered and paid for online by the 'Just Eat' website.

Cathay is your very run-of-the-mill pretty cheap and usually cheerful Chinese takeaway.

There are no defining qualities; nothing that I've had from here is worth shouting about. But, in equal measure, nothing that causes offense or distress. I've stopped of here twice in the past on my way home from somewhere or other, and both times have had quick, friendly service and satisfying food.

    Just don't expect anything special.

With dishes like crispy lamb, crab soup and the rather decadent sounding 'Wandering Dragon' - prawns, chicken and veg cooked in a wine and oyster sauce - this Chinese takeaway is a good bet for meat eaters but loses points from me for not offering a vegetable option alongside the beef, chicken and prawn options. Instead, they offer a limited selection of dishes at the end of the menu almost as an afterthought, meaning you can't necessarily have your favourite dish. The Thai menu fares a little better though, and their mixed veg curry was very good, I just wish they'd add the same option to the rest of their menu - how hard can it be?
